Closing Up Shop

The time has come for me to say goodbye to the vinyl business. I am expecting baby #5 at the beginning of October and will be a little occupied with children and homeschooling. So, my last day of accepting orders will be July 31st. July is a great month to do Christmas activities! If you like to plan ahead then this is the time to do it!

Salt Lake City Temple

Since today is my anniversary, I thought that I would spend the morning creating this beautiful temple keepsake. The Salt Lake Temple has been applied to the back of the glass and the Families are Forever has been applied to the front. It gives it a cool 3-D effect that can't be seen in the picture! My two princess' and I have had a fun morning creating adorable princess crafts!

New Family Home Evening Board Design

Font Options!

It has been a long time coming, but here are some of my fonts:

Chore Chart

I thought that our family should start the year off right with a new chore chart! I think that I am the only one looking forward to using it, however!! I do still need to get a few more hearts. At the bottom the kids will each have a magnetic heart to put under piano, prayers, scripture and school to show that they accomplished each one of those each day.

2008 PRIMARY AND YOUTH THEME

I think that it would be wonderful if each primary child and young man/woman in each ward had something to remind them of the upcoming theme for the year. So, in order to help out with that, I have vinyl lettering to go along with each theme. These will be significantly discounted so that each ward can afford one for each member!

The 2008 primary theme is "I am a child of God" but I can adjust the size as needed. The price will be around .50 each. You will only have two choices of colors for these however: white or black. If you would like to add a personalized name with the "I am a child of God" overlay then it will be .1.25 each (the total overal size is 5x7).

The 2008 Young Men/Young Women theme is "Be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works" (Mosiah 5:15). These will be available in 3x12 for $1.50.

Any of the lettering options can be interchanged. So if you like the lettering on the 3x12 we can make it in the 6x6 size. Just let me know!

Another little candy jar idea. I bought this jar at Hobby Lobby for 1.99. The lettering for the jar is $5. It includes the bows, Merry Christmas and 3 trees.

More Christmas Projects

Besides the tiles, glass blocks and boards that all make great Christmas gifts. Here are a couple of more ideas. I have a few more projects to work on. So, check back often!

Charger: These beautiful charges can be found at Hobby Lobby for $1.87. The vinyl lettering for each one is $6.50.

Candy Jar: I bought the jar at Hobby Lobby for .99 but I know that Ikea has some as well and they are cheaper, I'm just not sure if they are the same size or not. The front has "Merry Christmas" and the back has a Christmas tree. It looks really cute when it is empty as it looks very 3-D. Here are a couple of pictures. I wish they were a little clearer as they are really cute: The Christmas tree and the Merry Christmas are $2.25 for both.

I also found this adorable bucket at Hobby Lobby. I think that it was around $5. I think that it will make an adorable "Gift Bucket" when filled with hot chocolate, marshmallows and candy canes. The lettering for the bucket is $6. The snowflakes come all on a single sheet and then they have to be applied individually--that way you get to put them where you want. And look at the back of the bucket with the snowmen--isn't that cute!?

Holiday Tiles: These tiles have all been done in the 6x6 tile size. They are $3 for the lettering for each one:

Holiday and Special Occasion Stackers

These wooden stackers are cute holiday decorations. This is one set of stackers with two sayings. (I figured why waste the back!) The size of the wood is 2"x2"x6", 2"x2"x8" and 2"x2"x10". The wood is $2 for all three pieces and the lettering is $3.50 for one set of sayings or $5.50 for two sets of sayings.

The lettering can be done in lots of colors. Email me for a list of colors! Also, these blocks would make adorable baby gifts with the word "Baby" on it and then tied in blue or pink ribbon. These glass blocks can also be made into banks if you cut a whole in the top. Then we could find a cute saying about saving for it. Lots of ideas!

I purchased these glass blocks at Lowe's. The 4"x8" block was 4.83 and the 6"x8" was 5.38. Just to give you an idea of how much the whole project would cost! (I didn't shop around. So, you might be able to get them cheaper somewhere else if you check around!).

A Few Unfinished (or more appropriately just begun) Projects

I'm running out of room to store boards and tiles, so here are a few ideas that just haven't found a good home yet!

Application Instructions

Vinyl Lettering Application Instructions

Step 1: Assemble supplies: I have found that my olfa self healing mat, rotary cutter and ruler (all normally used for quilting) are perfect for this project. The ruler is an invaluable tool for aligning your lettering.
Trim the excess backing from around the lettering if needed and find the center on both your tile/board and your lettering.

Step 2: Using a squeegee or credit card firmly scrape over the lettering. This insures that the lettering will adhere to the backing when the clear masking is removed.


Step 3: Align the center points. Make sure your lettering is parallel to the bottom or top edge of your tile/board. (This is where the olfa ruler comes in handy. Place the lip of the ruler along the edge of the tile/board and use the guides to align your lettering). Tape the lettering in place at the top and bottom center.


Step 4: It wouldn’t hurt to scrape the lettering one more time—BE FIRM. Starting from the LEFT SIDE (I know the picture shows the right) SLOWLY peel back the clear masking.

Step 5: Cut off the backing paper and remove.


Step 6: Starting from the center carefully smooth out the clear masking onto your tile/board.






Step 7: Carefully peel back the other side and remove the backing.


Step 8: Starting from the center, smooth the clear masking onto the tile/board. Using your squeegee or credit card scrape over the top again. Once again—BE FIRM. You are now trying to get the lettering to adhere to the tile/board.



Step 9: Starting from the Left side, CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY peel back the clear masking. If something remains stuck to the clear masking, lay that portion back down and scrape harder over the top of it. It can also be helpful to hold your squeegee against the clear masking at an angle as you are peeling off the clear masking.

Tiles

Here are some ideas for various sized tiles. The price listed is for the lettering only, but the tiles can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe's (prices ranging from .22-$2). Make sure that the tile has a smooth surface so that the vinyl lettering will properly adhere.
